Republicans outraged that campaign spent hundreds of thousands on Palin beauty. 10.24.08
HuffPost, "If Palin's $150,000 shopping spree had Republicans disgusted, then the report that her makeup stylist cost $22,800 for the first two weeks of October should have them livid. The stylist, Amy Strozzi, was apparently paid more than any other McCain staffer during that period."
Senior McCain Advisor and Reagan Insider Defects because of Palin. 10.24.08 According to Huffington Post, This week, Fried announced that he has voted for Obama-Biden by absentee ballot. In his letter to Trevor Potter, the General Counsel to the McCain-Palin campaign, he asked that his name be removed from the several campaign-related committees on which he serves. In that letter, he said that chief among the reasons for his decision "is the choice of Sarah Palin at a time of deep national crisis."
Alaska Daily News on Sarah Palin 10.24.08 "Alaska is in danger of becoming one big national joke, the Dan Quayle of states. Someone should tell our governor that we deserve better than that. Someone should give our governor her brain back."
Colin Powell on Sarah Palin 10.19.08 America's senior soldier says of Sarah Palin, "Now that we have had a chance to watch her for some seven weeks, I don't believe she's ready to be president of the United States, which is the job of the vice president, and so that raised some question in my mind as to the judgment that Senator McCain made."
Sarah Palin in Troopergate. 10.19.08 A Republican led query into Sarah Palin's troopergate scandal reveals she 'abused her power.'
Conservatives discuss Sarah Palin. 10.08.08
"Whether or not I agree with John McCain, he is of presidential timber. But putting the country in the position where a total novice like Sarah Palin could be asked to steer us through possibly the most serious economic crisis of our lives is flat out reckless. It is the opposite of conservative. And please don’t tell me she will hire smart advisers. What happens when her two smartest advisers disagree?"
- Thomas Friedman, NY Times
"She's a pathological liar. In a real press conference, you cannot duck the real questions. And she has no answers because she has lied about so much."
- Andrew Sullivan, The Atlantic
"So, Sarah Palin. The man who would be the oldest to embark on a first presidential term has chosen as his possible successor a person of negligible experience. Any cook can run the state, said Lenin, who was wrong about that, too. America's gentle populists and other sentimental egalitarians postulate that wisdom is easily acquired and hence broadly diffused; therefore anyone with a good heart can deliver good government, which is whatever the public desires. "The people of Nebraska," said the archetypal populist William Jennings Bryan, "are for free silver, and I am for free silver. I will look up the arguments later.""
- George Will
"She has not been engaged in national issues, does not have a repertoire of historic patterns and, like President Bush, she seems to compensate for her lack of experience with brashness and excessive decisiveness."
- David Brooks
"Palin’s recent interviews with Charles Gibson, Sean Hannity, and now Katie Couric have all revealed an attractive, earnest, confident candidate. Who Is Clearly Out Of Her League.
No one hates saying that more than I do. Like so many women, I’ve been pulling for Palin, wishing her the best, hoping she will perform brilliantly. I’ve also noticed that I watch her interviews with the held breath of an anxious parent, my finger poised over the mute button in case it gets too painful. Unfortunately, it often does. My cringe reflex is exhausted.
Palin filibusters. She repeats words, filling space with deadwood. Cut the verbiage and there’s not much content there. Here’s but one example of many from her interview with Hannity: “Well, there is a danger in allowing some obsessive partisanship to get into the issue that we’re talking about today. And that’s something that John McCain, too, his track record, proving that he can work both sides of the aisle, he can surpass the partisanship that must be surpassed to deal with an issue like this.”"
- Kathleen Parker, National Review
"...there is little sign that she has the tools, the equipment, the knowledge or the philosophical grounding one hopes for, and expects, in a holder of high office."
- Peggy Noonan
"[Sarah Palin] represents a fatal cancer to the Republican party."
- David Brooks
McCain failed in his most important executive decision. Give him credit for choosing a female running mate--but he passed up any number of supremely qualified Republican women who could have served. Having called Obama not ready to lead, McCain chose Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. His campaign has tried to stage-manage Palin's exposure to the public. But it's clear she is not prepared to step in at a moment's notice and serve as president. McCain put his campaign before his country.
Sarah Palin can't see Russia. 10.07.08 Sarah Palin fibs about being able to see Russia. Watch this story about a news crew that visits the island from which you can see Russia.

Sarah Palin is a Young Earth Creationist and wants the state to intervene in your child's religion. 10.04.08 According to WikiAnswers, "She has stated that she is a creationist and has called for creationism to be taught in schools along side evolution. She has not yet pushed a bill to teach creationism in Alaska during her year and a half as Governor. Whether this is because she didn't think she could get such a law passed or for other reasons is unknown."
Sarah Palin on Polar Bears. 10.04.08 Sarah Palin sought to get the polar bear off the endangered species list because it would threaten oil interests.
According to the Anchorage Daily News, "She and other Alaska elected officials fear a listing will cripple oil and gas development in prime polar bear habitat off the state's northern and northwestern coasts..."
Sarah Palin on local rights of Eskimos. 10.07.08 Sarah Palin opposes the rights of Eskimos near ANWR. Quoting Wikipedia, "The Alaska Inter-Tribal Council, which represents 229 Native Alaskan tribes, officially opposes any development in ANWR. In March 2005 Luci Beach, the executive director of the steering committee for the Native Alaskan and Canadian Gwich’in tribe (a member of the AI-TC), during a trip to Washington D.C., while speaking for a unified group of 55 Alaskan and Canadian indigenous peoples, said that drilling in ANWR is "a human rights issue and it's a basic Aboriginal human rights issue."She went on to say, "Sixty to 70 percent of our diet comes from the land and caribou is one of the primary animals that we depend on for sustenance." The Gwich'in tribe adamantly believes that drilling in ANWR would have serious negative effects on the calving grounds of the Porcupine Caribou herd that they partially rely on for food.
Sarah Palin is Hostile to American Press. 10.04.08Being hostile to the American press is not acceptable for anyone who may become President. The press is not liberal or conservative, but representative of the American people, and to go to war with them is not Presidential, but petty and dangerous.
Sarah Palin and Racism as a Political Tool. 10.04.08The Associated Press says of Sarah Palin's attack on Obama:, "And though she may have scored a political hit each time, her attack was unsubstantiated and carried a racially tinged subtext that John McCain himself may come to regret. "
Sarah Palin and drilling in ANWR. 10.04.08 Sarah Palin wants to drill in a critical U.S. wildlife refuge. Drilling in ANWR would set a precedent against the extremely important concept of the permanence of preservation. ANWR is a critical habitat for some of the United States most diverse wildlife. The coastal plain, where drilling would occur, is the United States only land-based polar bear habitat. There have been 400 chemical and oil spills in Prudhoe Bay, including major ones as recent as 2006. Similar oil spills in ANWR could almost certainly end the existence of certain migratory species which rely on this critical habitat.
According to the Wilderness Society,
Make no mistake, the 2,000 acre claim is false and the entire 1.5 million-acre Coastal Plain would be impacted by drilling. Any drilling in the Arctic Refuge would dramatically disrupt wildlife and cause permanent scars that would unalterably change this important American wilderness, creating industrial development that would sprawl across the entire coastal plain of the Refuge.
As industry continues its multi-million dollar campaign to bombard the media and the public with rhetoric on drilling, you’ll see the 2,000-acre myth and other deceitful arguments coming directly from the lips of industry allies in government who hope to capitalize politically on American suffering over high gas prices. Don’t be fooled into accepting these falsehoods as facts.
Drilling the Arctic Refuge would not help ordinary Americans. It would simply help line the pockets of oil companies that reported record second quarter profits of $48.1 billion in 2008. The evidence is clear. If oil were discovered at commercial quantities, gas prices would drop by only a few pennies per gallon and not until 2030, according to our own government’s Energy Information Administration.

Sarah Palin believes global warming is not man-made. 10.04.08 Sarah Palin has said repeatedly that she "isn't one who would attribute it to being man-made." This is a very serious breach in judgment on the issue that may be the most important issue of this presidency. Almost no educated Americans continue to hold onto the idea that global warming is not anthropomorphic.
All 5 Churches Sarah Palin has belonged to believe both the New and Old Testament are literally true. 10.04.08 All of Sarah Palin's churches believe that every word of the old and new testament is literally true. That mean's men should only marry Jewish women, and stoning children is okay, and gays should be punished, and the world is flat, and evolution and the deep age of the Earth are all hogwash!
Sarah Palin wants to expand the culture war. 10.04.08 According to U.S. News, Palin was chosen to reopen the culture war: "After the news came out, a lineup of once reluctant conservative Christians came out forcefully for the Republican ticket. Even Dobson said that he was now on board. And when Palin addressed the convention, she wasted no time in making her role clear: Alluding to Obama's controversial remarks about working-class Americans who turn to guns and God when the economy sours, she presented herself as proof that his characterization was not only false but condescending. Proof, furthermore, that he was out of touch with God-fearing heartland America."

Sarah Palin believes in 'ex-gays.' 10.04.08 Sarah Palin's church believes that homosexuals are not born gay, and that they can be reformed. This idea is supported only by fundamentalist extremists, and is not supported by science.

Sarah Palin believes that Jesus rode on Dinosaurs. 10.04.08According to WikiAnswers, "The LA Times has confirmed she believes humans and dinosaurs existed at the same time, which is part of the young earth creationism belief that the planet is approximately 6,000 years old. (See Related Links for the article.) For someone who believes the planet was created 6 or even 10 thousand years ago, it wouldn't be unreasonable to also believe some dinosaurs still existed 2 to 6 thousand years later. Science indicates there is roughly 65 million years between when the last dinosaur and the first human existed." Get the Facts

Sarah Palin believes in burning books. 10.04.08 According to Time Magazine, "Stein says that as mayor, Palin continued to inject religious beliefs into her policy at times. "She asked the library how she could go about banning books," he says, because some voters thought they had inappropriate language in them. "The librarian was aghast." That woman, Mary Ellen Baker, couldn't be reached for comment, but news reports from the time show that Palin had threatened to fire Baker for not giving "full support" to the mayor."
Sarah Palin gets Dirty. 10.04.08 Sarah Palin says Obama 'palls around with terrorists." The Obama campaign responded swiftly to Palin’s comments. “Governor Palin’s comments, while offensive, are not surprising, given the McCain campaign’s statement this morning that they would be launching Swiftboat-like attacks in hopes of deflecting attention from the nation’s economic ills.” Obama-Biden spokesman Hari Sevugan said in a statement released by Obama’s campaign. “In fact, the very newspaper story Governor Palin cited in hurling her shameless attack made clear that Senator Obama is not close to Bill Ayers, much less ‘pals,’ and that he has strongly condemned the despicable acts Ayers committed 40 years ago, when Obama was eight. What’s clear is that John McCain and Sarah Palin would rather spend their time tearing down Barack Obama than laying out a plan to build up our economy,” Sevugan added.

Sarah Palin believes the Founding Documents called for union of religion and state. 10.04.08 We're not making this up.
Question: Are you offended by the phrase “Under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance? Why or why not?
Sarah Palin: Not on your life. If it was good enough for the founding fathers, its good enough for me and I’ll fight in defense of our Pledge of Allegiance.
Of course, everybody knows that the Pledge of Allegiance was recognized by the US government in the 1940s! Not only is Sarah Palin ignorant of U.S. history, but the statement above is a classic argument made by religious right extremists to try to confuse the intent of the founding fathers in their adamant belief in the separation of church and state.
